Call to Worship (Based on Psalm 71)
Leader: O Lord, in You we take refuge. You never fail to help us in our time of need.
People: Deliver us and rescue us! Listen to our prayers, and save us!
Leader: Be to us a rock where we can find refuge. Be to us a fortress where we can turn for safety.
People: Upon You, O God, we have leaned from our birth. Be our strength now and forevermore.

Prayer of Confession
God of healing, there are hurting people all around us. We hear the cries of the sick. We see the longing of the hungry. We read about the plight of the persecuted. Yet we are slow to help. We find excuses to explain our delay. We appoint committees to endlessly study issues, while all the time those in need continue to face danger and death. Eternal God, forgive our indifference and our lack of caring. Move us to act with compassion at all times. This we ask in the name of our Savior. Amen.

Pastoral Prayer
Loving God, You show Your compassion to us in so many ways. When we are sick, You draw near to comfort us in our affliction. When we feel lost, You give us direction. When we feel overwhelmed by our sins, You send forth Your mercy. But do not allow us to keep that compassion all to ourselves. Instead, as we receive Your compassion, may we be sharers of that compassion. Rather than focusing simply on our own welfare, direct our attention to improve the welfare of others.
Almighty God, encourage us to remember hurting people in our prayers. But more than that, encourage us to do what is in our power to lift up those who have been brought low. Lead us to share the food that we have in our cupboards. Guide us give of the clothing that overflows in our closets and attics. Show us how we can use our money not just for our own enjoyment, but how we can use it to change lives for the better. Keep us from becoming roadblocks to Your Kingdom. Make us instruments of Your peace today and forevermore. In the name of our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayer of Dedication
God of wonder and grace, You bring healing the brokenness that is a part of all our lives. As we receive your healing touch, may we in turn seek to extend that healing to those around us. Use us, and use our gifts, to extend the reach of Your Kingdom each and every day. In the name of our Lord Jesus we pray. Amen.
