Prayer of Confession
For all the excitement we have missed, chasten us. For all the joy we don’t have, forgive us. Now, as you came to the disciples of old, come to us and give us tongues and fires, voices and urgencies. Excite us, and call us forth into the new and electrifying life of Pentecost. Let us be the people we were meant to be, bored no more but free at last to be your excited and invigorated people. Amen.

Prayer of Dedication
These gifts come from the embers that keep Pentecost hope alive. They come from our center and our edge, our blazes and our small still flames. They come from us, but only because they came from You. May they please You, O, God. Amen.

Pastoral Prayer
For those who know no light today, we pray.
For those who know no way out, we pray.
For those who have been cold so long, they don’t even bother to look for warmth, we pray.
For those who are full of hope and confidence, we rejoice. May we remember our youth and the time we seemed to others we were drunk, so full of joy were our hearts.
For those who are looking for companionship, for those who want just a little encouragement, we pray. Let us be a friend to the lonely and courage for those who fear.
When we leave this sanctuary today, may we go out refreshed, so that at least one person today ask us why we are so full of life.
Thanks be to You, O God, for making our joys possible and our prayers things of power. Amen.
