Invocation or Call to Worship
Help us Dear God to pay attention, to open up our eyes and hear with more than our ears. Help us to pay attention and know beyond knowing and see beyond seeing and hear behind hearing and feel beyond feeling. Amen.
Prayer of Confession
Eternal God, we confess that we sometimes just don't get it. That sometimes we refuse to see. We shield our eyes from Your glory. Instead of drawing closer to the warmth of Your glow, we withdraw into the shadows. Yet Your light is as piercing as a laser, able to penetrate any walls that we attempt to erect between ourselves and You. Forgive our sin, and lead us once more to walk in Your light. In the name of our Lord we pray. Amen.
Prayer of Dedication
Gracious Lord, like the disciples on the mountaintop, we do not know how to describe something so unusual. Your goodness toward us is beyond description, and any words of thanks that we attempt to utter seem totally inadequate. As we stumble to express our gratitude, help us not only to share the things we own but also ourselves. In stumbling gratitude we pray. Amen.
Pastoral Prayer
O God, let Your presence burst forth. Give us the eyes to see the burning bushes. Give us the eyes to see those things that are not explained by reason or even language. Just as Moses was visibly changed when he met You face to face, may we also be changed. May the brilliance of Your glory surround us and embrace us.
Through each moment of every day, make us aware of how You are at work in our lives. Give us the ability to look at the events of each day as being not merely a series of random occurrences. Enable us to gain a sense of what You are saying to us through the people we meet and through the words that we hear. Give us the ability to see what we least expect. Give us the ability to hear what we find hard to hear. Give us the ability to feel what is beyond our senses. Most of all give us the ability to see Your light even though everyone else tells us it is dark. In the name of Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.
